A Message of Gratitude and Love: Honoring Michael Dean Damron

In loving memory of Michael Dean Damron December 13, 1963 - May 8, 2025.

This past week has brought profound sorrow and unexpected change with the loss of our beloved friend, Michael Dean Damron. What began as a benefit event—COME TOGETHER: A Benefit for Michael Dean Damron—transformed, through the collective love and spirit of our community, into a powerful and moving Celebration of Life and Memorial Concert held Saturday night, May 10th, at the Star Theater.

We want to share that through your compassion, generosity, and presence, $7,442 was raised. These proceeds will help cover funeral expenses and provide support to Mike’s loved ones in the difficult days ahead.

We also want to acknowledge and honor the many people who made this tribute possible.

The incredible musicians. Fernando Viciconte, Sue Weaver & Jenny Conlee, Lewi Longmire & Jason Montgomery, Kris Stuart, Merilee Horde & Fred Stevenson, John & Henry Hillstomp, and of course those SOBs: David Lipkind, Mole Harris, John Burbank, Chris Palmer, and Dewey Nielsen — your music and heart help us all.

Portland Elvis, whose country set on the patio added warmth and joy in honor of his friend.

The dedicated JWF staff and volunteers: Sarah Lonigro, Jessica Lindley, and Lisa Mork. Deepest acknowledgment to JWF Navigator Melanie Bobbett, who stood by Mike with unwavering support throughout these past few months.

Jacob Pander for capturing heartfelt messages and memories on video to share with Mike’s family—preserving the love and stories of a life that meant so much to so many.

Mike’s extended work family and the staff at Star Theater—Frank Faillace, Justin Merrill, Brian Kasnyik, Richard Fenton, Matt King, Jonesy, and Chris Martell. A very special acknowledgment to sound technician Noah Merrill, whose care and expertise made the evening run beautifully.

It was both heartbreaking and healing to see hundreds of Mike’s friends, fans, and musical family come together to celebrate a remarkable artist and human being. Your presence was a testament to the profound impact Mike had on all of us.

We continue to hold Sloane, Angel, and Mike’s entire family in our hearts. Please know that JWF and this loving community stand beside you in this time of grief and remembrance.

With love,
